East Bali Poverty Project

Isolated from the world by a catastrophic volcanic eruption, the 19 villages of Desa Ban lacked passable roads, arable lands, and basic developmental needs. The East Bali Poverty Project, founded on the principles of culturally sensitive, sustainable development, was a model for empowering people through technology, education, health care, and economic opportunity — but lacked the resources to share their stories or to create transparency and accountability for donors. Embedding for 3 months amongst the EBPP team and villagers, I documented their progress with infographics and metrics in their first ever formal annual report, and developed a Child Protection Policy based on internationally recognized guidelines for protecting vulnerable populations.
